Glenn Got His Hair Cut!!!

Wow, we weren't sure if the day would ever come, but it finally did and Glenn cut his hair! Between being awfully busy and not really liking getting it done anyway, there has been a lot of procrastination involved in taming the mane on Glenn's head. It hadn't been cut since December, and even then it was more of a trim and not a cut.
As you can see, it was getting so long that you could actually gather it into a ponytail (that's my hand holding the hair)! Sometimes you would just look at it and laugh because it was kind of getting ridiculous. I was beginning to wonder if he was going to have longer hair than me! As it turns out, there are parts of my hair that were shorter than his!
As I perused the Michael's next door to pick up some frames, Glenn ran into the Supercuts nearby and put his name in. When I got back he still hadn't gotten in the chair so we waited together for a little bit longer. Finally the gal called him up and got right to work. She actually did a really nice job! I'm always pretty skeptical of Supercuts... especially when you're in a sketchy part of town.
Anyway, I thought his hair looked great, but the beard looked really out of place. It was time for the beard to go. It made me kind of sad especially because I was quite fond of the beard. :o( Oh well.
Now the beard is gone ( well mostly) and we can actually see a face existed under all that manly hair! Now the count begins to see how long he will go without shaving or before getting another haircut!

Nothing Terribly Exciting Here

I don't have anything particularly interesting to share but I figured I would anyway. First off, I bruised my tailbone falling down the stairs pictured above. I was going outside to help Glenn put the cover on his new grill since it was raining and I slid my flip flops on since I was only going down the stairs and onto the back patio. I just didn't want to get my feet dirty. I forgot that wet wood equals slippery wood which also equals slippery flip flop feet. I made it all but 3 steps down before I fell. Fun! That was a couple days ago, and it still hurts. Oh well, I am pretty sure I will survive.
In other exciting news, we bought a grill! Yay! It just so happened to be in time for us to have our very first barbecue with our friends from Tucson, Jake and Bre, as well as their friends from Portland, Dustin and Alyssa. It was fun and Glenn grilled up some killer burgers. Hooray for having a local butcher shop at Tacoma boys with delicious meat. Glenn took some pictures while he was assembling it so hopefully I can put those together soon. It was starting to get dark when he started putting it together so the tail end of the pictures might not be so great, but at least you can see the awesome final product.
We found a small microwave that we liked at Macy's and decided to purchase it. Lucky us it was on crazy sale so we got a fantastic deal. It's really really small, which is what we were looking for since we don't use the microwave very often (mostly me melting butter for stuff) but it looks good and fits perfectly on the counter. There isn't a whole lot else we wanted.

Sunshine Filled Weekend

This weekend was absolutely beautiful. The sun was shining brightly and the skies were boasting a beautiful blue with puffy pillows for clouds. On Friday after Glenn got home from work we took Rally out to the deck and took a nice long nap in the sunshine. It felt so good soaking up all those delicious Vitamin D filled rays of sun. It was also nice to get a little color. I've been wondering if I might end up looking like a sparkly vampire if I didn't spend more time in the sun! We spent the rest of the night inside and watched Fast and Furious (the fourth one) to prepare for the awesomeness of Fast Five the next morning.

Saturday morning we drove out to Gig Harbor to watch Fast Five in DBox seats. If you weren't already familiar with DBox, they are basically seats that have a motion code programmed into them to go along with the movie you are watching. If you've ever been on the Back to the Future ride at Universal Studios, it's like that. They're a TON of fun and really cool. We saw the last F&F in DBox and had such a blast so we knew we would definitely be doing it again. As far as the movie goes, it was AWESOME! I LOVED every action packed second of it. Plus, I am definitely not going to object to a movie with Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, and the Rock. It's definitely a movie to kick off summer the right way.

Since we were in Gig Harbor for the movie, we made our way over to our future 'Hood in Tacoma. We drove by our soon-to-be house (fingers still crossed!) and I giggled as we drove by the house down the street with all the crazy decorations. We're starting to get really excited. I've even began a countdown using the snowflake decorations from Christmas that I never took down. Our inspection is tomorrow (Tuesday) and we are really excited to get back in the house. It feels like it's been forever and we're starting to forget what it looks like inside!

I finally got to spray painting my hardware yesterday. We spent the late sunny afternoon out in the sun again. This time Glenn showed me how to spray paint. I was too scared to just attempt it on my own, so I made Glenn show me how to do it. I'm such a wuss!
We started by spraying the door handles and the diamond panel insets with glossy black. I just loved the way the diamonds looked with the black. I knew it would look perfect against the fabric I chose.
As far as the door pulls go, I've been waffling on that one. I thought that I would try and match the 50's hardware that we picked up at Sanford & Sons.
After one coat of the "chrome" spray paint I knew it wasn't going to match but I was really liking the look. It has a soft shine to it, almost like brushed nickel. The pulls look fantastic against the bright pink so I decided to spray the remaining handles later in the week.
Finally I got to pulling the fabric off of the door panels. They were attached with glue.
After a dusty mess I scraped off the remaining fabric with my putty knife. I am getting super excited about the way my piece is turning out. When it is all done it will be 100% Bri, and that's exactly what I want it to be.

With all the time we spent outside waiting for paint to dry and enjoying the sun, we thought that Rally would get to see his girlfriend for sure. He did! They are just so stinkin' cute together. They really do love each other. They don't act the same way around other dogs. Rally and Mika played together for quite a while before Rally started to get tired. It seems like just yesterday he had boundless energy. Meanwhile, Mika was still all sorts of ready to play. She's only 1, so she's always ready for fun. Rally is nearing his 4th birthday this June! I can't believe it. We've had him for a little over 3 years now. He's such a good boy :o)

We ended up getting a little more color yesterday as well, maybe a little more than we intended. Oh well! We're certainly looking forward to this week and are very excited for Tuesday to get here so we can hopefully get the final green light on the house! After that I am going to start packing things and before we know it, we'll be moving!

I hope everyone is doing well! Love to all!

So This Is What Spring Looks Like!

Having lived in Arizona all my life with the exception of the last 10 months, I have never truly experienced seasons. Seasons to me have always been a blazing hot extended summer followed by a mild cool down for winter (otherwise known as not summer anymore.) Here in Washington, things are DRASTICALLY different.
Summer here was absolutely wonderful with warm days and cool nights and a handful of hot days that reminded me of AZ. Then fall came with it's cool days and much cooler nights. Leaves were changing and the jewel toned colors of the season were abundant. Fall was nature's way of telling me to start wearing pants instead of shorts and to quit wearing flip flops. I still wore flip flops. Winter brought us some verrrry chilly days with some downright freezing nights. We even got a few days of snow! I really enjoyed winter, as I just love to bundle up.
Now we are experiencing a stunningly beautiful spring. We finally seem to be getting the rain that everyone seems to thing is never ending here. I really should quit wearing flip flops until the rains let up, but I can't help it. Like I said to Glenn the other day, "You can take the girl out of Arizona, but you can't take the Arizona out of the girl." I live in flip flops and probably always will. I even wore them out in the snow sometimes!
I am really enjoying Spring here, it's absolutely beautiful. I have been utterly captivated watching everything bloom and seeing once lifeless plants burst with renewed life and color. What makes this especially fun for me is that our deck is wonderfully landscaped with lots of dimension and color. I got to watch the leaves change color, the trees collect snow on empty branches, and now blossom with color once again.

I just wanted to share some photos that I took on the deck of things that I find particularly beautiful at the moment.

Love to all!

Crazy Snow!

So tonight as Glenn and I were working on our puzzle of none other than the Seattle Skyline, he noticed that it was snowing outside. A LOT. It seemed like a blizzard just came through town. Kind of weird if you ask me. We knew it was going to be snowing this week, but I didn't really expect much. It's all good though since we don't have to worry about driving in it. We took Rally outside to let him play in it and he just loves snow. Let me clarify, he loves snow but does not like snowmen. At one point he noticed a tiny snowman on the ground and he ran over to it and completely bit his head off. Ouch! Enjoy the pictures!

The Grill Master

We have been having the most beautiful weather here in Seattle. The days are cool with lots of warm sunshine and lovely little breezes every now and then. It definitely is a treat to be able to enjoy being outside during the summer. Contrary to popular belief, it really does not rain that much in Seattle, especially not during summer. I think since we have been up here, it's rained maybe a couple times, but even then, it wasn't much.

In any event, we have been trying to meet up with Rob and Darcy since we've gotten up here, but they are apparently the two busiest people on earth! When Glenn called them, they pretty much said there were two days they were available to hang out. We took them up this last weekend and we had a BBQ over at our place. The morning of our BBQ, Glenn and I went down to Pike's Market to pick up all our fresh produce. It was so insanely crowded. I'm not sure what we were thinking, going down there on a Saturday morning. Anyway, we ended up coming home with tons of stuff. We got lots of fresh sweet corn, a head of broccoli, some asparagus, some wax beans, and a lemon. I love having all this yummy fresh produce just a short walk away from home.

Glenn is quite a skilled griller, or whatever you call a person who grills. The chicken was soooo juicy and perfectly cooked, and the corn was really yummy. I made the pasta salad. Not much skill involved there. LOL. Everyone enjoyed their food, we all enjoyed the company, and before they left we made sure to rope them in to a board game and we played Ticket to Ride. Glenn actually beat me by a few points! Earlier in the morning though, we played the Nordic Countries version of the game and I whooped his butt.

I hope everyone is doing well. We are happy as can be here, and I am about to head off to a job interview right now! :o)

Little Update

Okay, so I've gotten lazy. If you were to ask me what I do all day while Glenn is gone at work, you would wonder how I can manage to not allow some space within a 6 hour time period to update the blog a bit. I know, I know, it's kind of amazing but that's just how I am. Seriously though, I haven't been up to much. It's a lot of the same stuff. I sleep in, take the dog out, eat breakfast, make the bed, read, search for jobs, read some more, eat lunch, read some more, do the dishes, then patiently wait for Glenn to come home. Sometimes I'll throw a workout video somewhere in the mix to keep things lively.

It's been about two and a half weeks since we moved in, so the fact that I don't have a job is frustrating, but I just try to remember that if I were still in AZ, I wouldn't be going back to work until the 19th of July, so technically, I am still on summer break. I'm just tired of feeling like I don't pull my weight. Washing a few dishes and making the bed don't really make up for that gap. Glenn says that I should volunteer somewhere to keep myself busy. It also doesn't hurt that it would look pretty good on a resume. Right now I am just looking around to see if anything looks interesting, so we will have to wait and see!

Aside from that, life is pretty good here in Seattle. Glenn and I are still having fun exploring the city without a hectic timeline, like when we're on vacation. Not too long ago we wandered all over the city and made it out to Pioneer Square, and that's roughly 1.5 miles from the house. We walk A LOT here and we love it! It's really neat to be so self sufficient. If we need groceries, we have our pick of stores or markets to walk to and pick them up. If we want to go shopping, it's like we have an entire outdoor mall within minutes of our house. Movies? There's a handful of theatres around, also within walking distance. It really is nice to be able to use our legs to get us places instead of the car. There's always the added benefits of exercise and not paying for gas!

That's it for now, I will be back tomorrow with some pictures from the trip we took to Olympia a couple Saturdays ago. I hope all is well for everyone, we miss you and love you!

It's My Turn Now

I figured it was about time that I got back on this blogging thing and let everyone know what's going on in my head. It's still kind of hard to believe that just two weeks ago we were back in Phoenix, and now we are actually living in Seattle. Everything is still a little bit surreal to me, but little by little, I am starting to feel like I am settling and things are returning back to normal.

On Monday I decided to go out and explore the city while Glenn was at work. I did so much walking! I looked at google maps to approximate the distance I walked, and I would ballpark it around 5 miles! That's nuts! Basically I left the apartment and headed South into downtown where I checked out the Macy's and Nordstrom's (I was looking for MAC makeup), then I made my way to Ross and Nordstrom Rack (looking for some cute pajama pants) and then I went even further South and checked out the Gold's Gym. The GM there was really nice and I liked the gym itself, so we went ahead and transferred our membership there. Our first workout was yesterday, and I am SO SORE! After all of that walking it was about time for Glenn to get off work, so I met up with him and we walked home.

Tuesday was less eventful for me, I basically just did some laundry, more job searching (more on that later), and then I ran over to a pet store to get Rally some treats as a late birthday present. He turned 3 on the 14th. This time Glenn met up with me and we walked over to the gym so he could check it out before we made our decision and then we came home. We also decided to start watching LOST now that is finally over. I totally get what all the fuss is about! It's a really good show, and I am only 4 episodes in!

Yesterday was another quiet day for me, nothing new in the job search department. I mostly just played with the dog. As far as the job search goes for me, let me fill you in on what I have found. I am mostly looking for a job as an Administrative Assistant, pretty much the same as what I was doing before. I've found about 8 prospects so far, all of them in a pretty decent pay range. My favorite one though is for a private high school called Waldorf. The job is almost identical to what I was doing before, and honestly, they would be crazy not to hire me. I would get to work the same awesome school year schedule as I did before, but adjusted to the Seattle school system. The best part is that it is right across from the Seattle Center, which is right by our apartment! It would be so awesome if I could walk to work! We'll see though. Right after I applied I got an email from the director at the school that said they were reviewing applications all week and would be selected candidates for phone interviews. If I don't hear from them by Monday, then that would mean I wasn't selected. I guess we will just wait and see!

Today I walked over to Queen Anne and had lunch with Glenn at Kidd Valley (it's a hamburger and shake place) and it was so nice! I loved being able to have lunch with Glenn! He seems to really like his new job and it sounds to me like he is fitting in there wonderfully. We're going to go out and try to find him a man purse today because he needs to wear his jacket in the morning, but it's a little too warm to wear it on the way home. Plus he has his water bottle to carry and whatever other gadgets he likes to carry around.

That basically sums up my week! I hope everyone is doing well!

Love,
Bri
