Day 2 Was a Little More Difficult

The second day of our road trip was scheduled to be about as long as our first. We left Salinas at about 9:30 AM and planned to arrive in Roseburg, OR later that night. Since Glenn loves me so much he put aside his distaste of driving through San Francisco to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge for me. Of course there was a ton of traffic and it wasn't a very easy drive for Glenn. I'm just glad I wasn't the one driving the car and navigating the crazy streets of beautiful San Fran. After we drove over the bridge we entered into true Northern California, at least in my opinion. Everything was very lush and green and there was a lot of water around. We didn't encounter the rain like we did the day before but there were other, more difficult obstacles for the brave driver. The roads were not so nice and difficult to navigate in certain areas. There were plenty of crazy hills and mountains to drive up, over, and around as well. Again, I was definitely glad I was not the driver. This day of traveling was a bit hard on Rally. He got a strange case of the shakes in the car and it was making me nervous. I think it was probably just the rough roads that were hard for him to handle. Just like the day before though, he was perfectly well behaved. We are lucky we have a dog who travels so well with us. Plus he's so cute!
A little of the way into our trip we made a stop in Shasta, California. The views around here were gorgeous. Rally and Glenn took a little hike and Rally became one with nature. Rally really enjoys all the new smells he's been coming across. We also stopped for lunch in Mt. Shasta at a KFC/TacoBell that I am pretty sure has an underground meth operation going on. The workers were not normal people. It was a little skeevy in my opinion. We stopped at some really strange podunk gas station right before the border of Oregon so Glenn could avoid getting gas in the strange state that makes it illegal to pump your own gas, even though I begged him so I could witness this weird phenomenon. Once we got into the state, Glenn was not a happy camper, as anyone who knows him is quite familiar with his hatred of Oregon. We finally arrived in Roseburg at roughly 7:30 PM Saturday, June 6th. Again, we stayed at a Motel 6 for their pet friendliness. This one was a little nicer because it was indoors and it even had a nice little fenced off pet area! Apparently everyone here loves dogs, because pretty much every guest we saw at the hotel had at least one dog with them. We grabbed some dinner with Glenn's friend Jami at a nearby restaurant that kind of sucked, and then we were in for the night and we crashed.
